Had a Blast in Hong Kong

Day 1:

For the ninth day of our trip to Asia, we allotted the full day for checking out our hotel in Shanghai and traveling next to Hong Kong. Since our flight was scheduled pretty early, by 11:00 in the morning, we were already at the Disneyland Hotel in Hong Kong. We checked-in at 3pm, took a rest for awhile and went to Walt’s Cafe to have our dinner.

The Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel lives up to it’s rating. The hotel itself is a classic example of taste and luxury with a wealthy Victorian feel and tasteful decoration and furnishings.

The Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel has a grand lobby with a six-storey high ceiling, massive chandeliers, windows overlooking the hotel grounds and the South China Sea.

It has plenty of dining options, a gym, a business center, a swimming pool, an outdoor maze garden and more than a few attractions and activities for kids too.

The buffet breakfast at Enchanted Garden is extensive with all the usual American options and a full Chinese breakfast as well as a made to order noodle bar. It even had a whole section of Indian food including fresh roti.

You will get a chance to meet Disney Characters at the breakfast meet and greet. Instead of getting in crazy long lines at the Disneyland Park to get a photo with your favorite Disney Star, they will come to your table, one at a time, to make sure you and your loved ones get a chance to snap a photo. How awesome is that?

Day 2:

For our next day in Hong Kong, we spent our full day in Disneyland. Even though we have been to Disneyland in various countries, there’s still something that draws us close to this place. Given that it’s my husband and Mikko’s second time to visit Hong Kong Disneyland, and it’s my third time. It is, however, our youngest child’s first time to be here in this place. With that, it makes it even more special for all of us as a family this time around.

Day 3:

On our third day in Hong Kong, we checked out from Disneyland Hotel and transferred to Regal Hotel Causeway Bay. We spent almost the whole day checking out from our previous hotel to checking in to our new one. We took this as a day off, and we took this opportunity to eat at Times Square.

Day 4:

For the next day, we went to see Hong Kong’s natural wonders via The Peak. Unfortunately, it was foggy and raining when we went there, but nonetheless, it was still a happy experience especially when we entered Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum.

Madame Tussaud’s Hong Kong is just a few floors down from the Sky Terrace, The Peak. It is one of the must-visit places while in Hong Kong. It houses life-size wax figures of the world’s most famous influential personalities.

There are also great interactive displays including a fun catwalk and a dance off screen.

The Marvel  characters, Hulk and Spiderman and Pia Wurtzbach’s wax figure were a highlight for us. We didn’t have any time to get around the city, so we went back to our hotel afterwards.

Day 5:

On our fifth day, since we were too tired to do anything else, we decided that it’s best for us to take a stroll at the side streets of Causeway Bay. We didn’t run out of things to do and see when we’re exploring the busy streets of Causeway Bay. If you’re a retail shop addict, you’ll surely enjoy this place because there are a lot of designer and commercial outlets you can visit.

Day 6:

For our last full day in Hong Kong, we went to Victoria Harbor to get a glimpse of the Hong Kong skyline at the Tsim Tsui Waterfront. We took a ferry to get there, and it just added to our experience of traveling once more. Afterwards, we went back to Mongkok Ladies Market to buy souvenirs and took a taxi to Causeway Bay and strolled the streets some more. We also had our dinner there and again, we took this opportunity to drink the famous Tiger Sugar Milk Tea. We did some grocery shopping at Best Mart, Jadine’s Bazaar before we called it a day.

Day 7:

Our fifteenth-day traveling marks the end of our trip. By 1:30 PM, we were already at the Hong Kong International airport. Indeed, Hong Kong was a blast, and it’s undoubtedly one of the travels we had that’s going to be memorable as it is our first time to travel with the latest addition to our little family.
