Exploring Chicago, the Windy City

Day 1

For our sixteenth day in our United States and Canada trip, we were bound to go to Chicago. At ten in the morning, we checked out from our rented place in San Francisco before heading to San Francisco Airport. Our flight to Chicago was scheduled at 2:55 PM. We arrived at the Chicago Midway Airport ten minutes after nine in the evening. We immediately checked in our apartment located at the North Winthrop Avenue. Per our usual first night routine, we first bought groceries before calling it a day.

Day 2

On our second day in Chicago, we met with my husband’s cousin, Lot. Tiya Inday and her friends were also there as well as Ate Lot’s daughters. They welcomed our family warmly by inviting us to have lunch in their home.

They even toured us in the city. We went to the Cloud Gate and at The Bean at Millenium Park. Then just before sunset, we all went to the Magnificent Mile. Even though it was already at night the streets of Chicago were as busy as ever! Especially at the Magnificent Mile – it truly lives up to its name with simply being how magnificent it is.

This place is home to hundreds of shops – both upscale and more commercial ones. Also, this lane is filled with skyscrapers which have an observation deck that overlooks the whole city that any visitor must not fail to see! My husband’s cousin’s family were also kind enough to treat us to dinner at the Alhambra Palace. After dinner, we all called it a night and rested.

Day 3

On our third day, we just called it our free time. We spent the whole day lounging around. We used this as an opportunity to pack our belongings for our next itinerary which was Texas. Our stay in Chicago may be short but what’s important is that we got to spend it with our family.
