Hong Kong/Macau Trip with the Fam: Happy Kid and Happy Kids-at-heart in Hong Kong (Part 1)

Our first out-of-the-country trip was when we went to Hong Kong-Macau-Shenzen last December 2013. Since it was our first time to travel to a foreign country as a family, I decided to avail of a tour package to Hong Kong with a side trip to Shenzen and a DIY to Macau to maximize our trip. The weather in Hong Kong and Macau during our stay was at around 12-15C.

Hong Kong is known to many travelers who would love an out-of-the-country trip with their friends and families because it’s near and it offers a wide variety of food options. Hong Kong also has its Disneyland that kids and kids-at-heart will enjoy.

Foodies would appreciate the heritage of Cantonese cuisine through dim sum and noodles. At night, HK’s streets are filled with establishments offering classic Chinese and Cantonese dishes.

When we arrived at the hotel, we took a rest for a while and got ready for our day trip to Macau. We were able to avoid the lines as I booked our tickets online. You won’t have problems to book trips online since HK is a famous tourist destination in the world.

Our first stop in Macau was The Venetian where we had dinner and took a Gondola ride. You won’t need to go directly to Italy just to enjoy the popular boat ride.

There are many Filipinos working in Macau. In fact, our gondolier was a Filipina and she serenaded us with a couple of Filipino songs and of course some Christmas songs. It was as Filipino as it can get.

We haven’t had a decent rest yet since we arrived in Hong Kong because we only had a short rest at the hotel and went straight to Macau. So at around 7:00PM, we hurried back to the terminal to avoid missing the ferry en route to Hong Kong which is scheduled to leave at 7:30PM. On our way to the ferry terminal, we rode a free shuttle bus that has colorful blinking lights inside. It is definitely a cool way to end our first day!

On our second day, it was a swift day as we joined the compulsory city tour. It was fun because we get to visit the Avenue of the Stars, pass by Victoria Peak, and go to the Jewelry Factory and Factory Outlet Store.

After our morning trip, my family went to the much-awaited trip to Disneyland. Honestly, it’s one of the highlights of every Hong Kong trip. This is the place where you can find your favorite Disney characters, movies, and programs. Plus, it’s the best place for family bondings, which my kid and kid-at-heart husband enjoy so much.

We tried different rides and facilities, of course, who wouldn’t enjoy seeing Mickey and Minnie at Disneyland?
