Wonders to Wander

The Beauty of Niagara Falls (and So Much More) in Canada

Day 1:

Our trip to Canada wasn’t exclusively just for us. Our friends, Annalyn Hoddenbagh and her husband Ed, was kind enough to take us in for the duration of our stay. If you’re wondering who Anne is, she’s my father’s former employee. My father treated Anne like his own daughter. So basically, she’s kind of my sister. I can still recall the times when they’d stay at our house when they visit in Manila. This time, it’s me and family who they’re serving as guests in their home in Canada!

For our first day in Canada, we went for a stroll at the Rotary Park near Lake Ontario. Ed’s mom, Oma, went along and we were very impressed because she’s still very active at her age. We didn’t do much since we’re still kind of tired from our trip from the United States.

On our second day, we watched Infinity Wars at Ajax. Every Tuesday, all Cineplex theatres in Canada offer discounted admission tickets so we took advantage of that. We also took this opportunity to buy some souvenirs at the $1 dollar grocery store.

Day 3:

On our third day, we made sure that it was the time for us to get going. We visited the world’s famous falls which is Niagra Falls. It was such a sight! Pictures couldn’t do this place justice. Afterward, we went to see the White Water Walk. It’s a self-guided walk that tourists can take when they visit Niagra falls to have a closer look at the falls and river. We also grabbed the opportunity to go on a cruise with the Hornblower Niagara Cruises. If you’re planning to visit Niagara Falls any time soon, it’s not enough to view it from the deck! We proved this when we went to see Niagara’s Fury. We got the chance to see what’s behind the falls. Indeed, it was an experience of a lifetime!

Day 4:

We went to see Downtown Toronto on our fourth day. In here, we visited the Toronto Eaton Center and the Nathan Philips Square. What’s great about Canada is that you can revel in the nature one day (like what we did the previous day), and go to the city the next day.

Day 5:

The next day, we took the kids out to play. It was a simple get together between Anne and Ed’s family and mine, but it was fun! We just walked at the Rotary Park, and appreciated the view. Best part of the day? The steak dinner!

Day 6:

On our last full day in Canada, we celebrated Ed’s birthday. We also went grocery shopping at Costco, a global retailer with warehouse club operations in eight countries. It’s a membership warehouse club much like S&R and Landers.

Day 7:

Our last day in Canada marked the end of our the United States and Canada trip. Then, it was time for us to head back home to the Philippines. Sure, we were sad that we had to go home. But we know that we had a trip of our lives and it’s definitely not going to be the last!
